The Joker Fatality remains

Mortal Kombat vs DC is going to be a pretty interesting title, promising to put the fighters of the extremely popular Mortal Kombat game series against all of the superheroes and villains of the DC comics universe.

The game is set to be launched on November 16 in the United States and on November 21 in Europe and other territories. We recently reported that the game had gone gold, meaning that manufacturing plants were already hard at work producing the copies that would hit the store shelves soon, and that, constrained by the ESRB ratings board, the developer and publisher of the game, Midway, had to censor some of the characters' finishing moves, entitled Fatalities.

One of the biggest cuts was that of the Joker's Fatality, in which Batman's archrival and deranged comedian pulled out a gun and shot it, only for a flag with "BANG!" inscribed on it to come out of the barrel. While the opponent was left without a reaction, the Joker pulled out another gun, and this time shot his adversary in the head. The ESRB, which is in charge with rating games for the United States, considered this move too violent and threatened that it would not give the game a Teen rating, which was the target for Midway. The company then announced that, instead of actually seeing the Joker shoot his enemy, his opponent would go offscreen, and then the villain would shoot him.

Now, speaking with Videogamer, Hans Lo, the senior producer for this title, said that, because of the different rating system in Europe, MK vs DC might appear uncensored in this territory. "That's partly true that the fatality has been edited... You know, for North America we have a Teen rating, and teen really means 13 and above. Thirteen is pretty young, you have to admit. For Europe we have a 15, 16+ rating - so it's a bit different."

That's definitely very good news for European fans, who can hardly wait to get their hands on their favorite characters and fight against some of the most well known superheroes. Also, this might get the attention of American fans who want a true MK experience, without any cuts.
