The province development system is the biggest new addition

The team at Paradox Development Studio is announcing that it will be launching the new expansion for Europa Universalis IV on June 9 and that the chosen name for the new content drop is Common Sense.

Gamers will be able to get it only on the PC via the digital distribution platforms on which the core title is also offered.

The Common Sense name was chosen in honor of the best-selling pamphlet by Thomas Paine, which was one of the main sources revealing the atmosphere of the American Revolution.

The developer is saying, "Paradox’s Common Sense won’t tear down the pretensions of monarchy like Paine’s did, but it will give Europa Universalis IV new tools so players can manage the growth of their domains. With a focus on the art of ruling and national improvement, Common Sense adds depth to domestic rule and adds a number of major changes to diplomacy."

The biggest tweak added in the new expansion for Europa Universalis IV will be a new province-based development system.

The studio has limited the number of buildings that can be created in each area and players will need to make tough choices as they develop their nation, with monarch points needed in order to improve a province and get more value out of it.

The politics system of Europa Universalis IV is also overhauled in Common Sense

Parliamentary rule is also introduced in the new content, mainly for the United Kingdom, but also for other similar countries, with laws used to boost the power of the faction in the long term, as shown in the attached video.

Moreover, all Protestant countries can now choose to create their religions and draw from a pool of characteristics to improve their own capabilities, while Buddhism is also getting some improvements in Common Sense for Europa Universalis IV.

The Holy Roman Empire is also getting the ability to create some free cities, and there are improved mechanics for those who create a theocracy.

The expansion itself is designed to expand the range of experiences that fans of Europa Universalis IV can get from the grand strategy title.

At the same time, Paradox Development Studio is also planning to introduce a free update for the title, which will fix bugs and will improve the design of the map.
