Video game developer and publisher Paradox Interactive has announced that it is working on a new installment, the fourth, in its core grand strategy series, Europa Universalis, which is set to offer more options and choices than any other title in the company’s line-up.

The developers are emphasizing the decisions that gamers can do when it comes to nation development, including individually choosing the society structure, the power sharing and even obscure elements like trade politics.

A new system called Monarch Power will push gamers to utilize the strength of their nation’s leader, making it more profitable to go to war when the king is skilled in that area and creating a more dynamic game.

Another new element is a trade system, which emphasizes strategically placed ports and solid fleet use in order to bring wealth to the nation that is ready to devote the necessary resources.

Diplomacy has also been extended, introducing coalitions, threats and explicit support for rebel movements, which will make it complicated to act without having the support of other countries.

Gamers can also unilaterally act towards a nation and set a stance that reflects their future plans rather than the current situation.

The development team at Paradox Entertainment says that the new engine used for Europa Universalis IV introduces more than 4,000 historical leaders and 1,000 personalities from different areas, with a number of history-based events included in order to provide choice and guide players.

There are more than 250 countries to choose from at the start of the game and the 3D map is more detailed than ever.

The new multiplayer options for Europa Universalis IV include cooperative control for the same country and more setup elements.

The developers also promise more support than ever for customization and modding, allowing each player to create his own Europa Universalis IV experience.
