Designed as a high-end mobile workstation

Intel might be some time away from releasing its first Nehalem-based processors designed for portable computer systems, but that doesn't necessarily mean that laptops can't take advantage of the performance potential provided by the company's Core i7. On that note, Eurocom has just posted a complete list of technical specifications of what appears to be the world's first Core i7-equipped portable computer system, the Clevo D900F Phantom. The notebook is expected to launch on May 1, 2009 and is designed to provide users with a mobile workstation featuring Intel's highest-performance processors to date.

What is even more impressive is that the same notebook that is listed as being featured with the Core i7 processor also boasts NVIDIA's G280 GPU, a graphics processor that is yet to make itself present on the market. This also confirms that users will probably not be able to purchase said laptop until sometime during the fourth quarter of this year, as NVIDIA isn't likely going to be ready with G280 until this summer. Also, the D900F won't probably make it to this year's CeBIT show in Hanover, Germany.

Equipped with a 17-inch WUXGA 1920x1200 display, the D900F can house up to 8GB of DDR3 memory and can support a maximum of 1.5TB of storage space on no less than 3 hard disk drives. The laptop will also boast a 12-cell battery, but even that high-capacity battery will probably not be sufficient to cope with the high-performance Core i7, accompanied by the high-end G280 GPU.

Unfortunately, there are no details available at this time regarding the laptop's estimated price tag, but when it comes out, this 11.9lbs behemoth will likely dig a hole in the user's pocket. However, you will have to keep in mind that the D900F isn't exactly built as your day-to-day laptop, being specifically targeted at the professional market.
