14 DAY TRIAL // Back in November, Eurocom announced it was offering the entire range of ES-2600 x2 Xeon processors (everything from 4-cores/8-treads to 12-cores/24-threads including E5-2697 v2, E5-2687w v2, E5-2697 v2, E5-2695 v2, E5-2690 v2, E5-2680 v2, E5-2670 v2, E5-2650 v2 and E5-2620 v2) for its Panther 5SE mobile server laptop.
Now the company is adding another enhancement to the machine, including the VMWare vSphere Hypervisor 5.5 for enterprise level virtualization, a software that installs on top of physicals server and partitions them into multiple virtual machines.
Each virtual machine shares the same physical resources as the other units and they can all run at the same time. Unlike other virtualization softs, vSphere enables remote management tools.
The Panther 5S aims to substitute the server room allowing (small) organizations and workgroups to set up their business quickly and efficiently.
The mobile server will also prove to be quite useful for institutions looking to relocate, as it reduces cost and time when setting up LAN-based solutions.
Business establishments running in locations which don’t really offer a lot of space, can use a number of Panther 5SE mobile servers set-up to work in concert, thus eliminating the need for fully-fledged space consuming servers.
The mobile station comes equipped with Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet port on-board with extra LAN ports (single, dual Quad or Fiber) hidden within the internal ExpressCard slot. More LAN capabilities can be added via the ExpressCard-based Ethernet LAN adapters.
