Customers will still have the chance to opt for Windows 8

Eurocom, a company specialized in the production of highly portable, upgradable and very powerful notebooks, is expanding its flexibility of choice, by offering its customers a more extensive selection, adding the possibility of opting between operating systems.

Eurocom is a champion when it comes to highly configurable and upgradable video cards such as the ones present in the recent Armadillo Ultrabook, X7 gaming notebook or even the mobile sever Panther 5SE.

Keeping faithful to its reputation and hoping to increase demands for its powerful products, Eurocom has decided to grant users a choice in the operating system department, between Windows 8 and Linux Ubuntu, Mint and Debian.

“Linux based operating system are a great alternative to Windows operating systems because they are less prone to virus attacks, are very secure, while having a stylish and intuitive interface. Linux distributions like Ubuntu gives users a streamlined experience they can really their own.”

However, some of you may be disappointed Eurocom is only offering the Debian/Unbuntu-based options, but this seems to be a step into the right direction and, hopefully, Fedora will be added to the alternative line-up in the near future.

Of course, just like before users will be allowed to further customize everything found onboard of the mobile machines, including display size/resolution, CPU, RAM, hard drives, graphics chips, optical drives and wireless connections.

The accessibility to the internal components is also one of Eurocom’s highlight, because it enables experienced users (and let’s be fair, who uses Eurocom machinery but experienced users) to make do-it-yourself updates without much complication or aggravation.

Eurocom customers are also encouraged to build their own custom backlit keyboards, having to choose from a selection of 7 colors, 3 zone and 8 models.

Eurocom has been around since the ’90 but so far they didn't seem too determined towards porting the Linux experience onto their devices, but they could be headed off to a good start with this week’s announcement.

Anyway, in related news, Eurocom has upgraded its X3, X5 and X7 power-laptops with the newest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M graphics cards. Eurocom is providing the update in single and SLI (dual) flavors.

The new 880M GPU is based on the older high-end Kepler architecture, which has been overclocked to provide more Steam. In addition, the new architecture will bring about some extra features including Battery Boost, GameStream, ShadowPlay, Optimus and PhysX technologies capable of pushing forth the laptop’s pre-set boundaries.
