While high-end notebooks are not exactly a new occurrence on the mobile front, it seems that Eurocom has managed to become the first laptop maker to actually develop a so-called super-notebook with 24 GB of RAM.

Apparently, if there is such a thing as a super-notebook, Eurocom has either created one or come very close to doing so.

Basically, the company put together the Panther mobile workstations, two in of them to be exact, both of which can have up to 24 GB of DDR3 combines triple-channel memory.

Such a massive amount of RAM can be used for a variety of things, such as running multiple operating systems, speed up video editing and improve rendering.

One of the models goes by the name of D900F Panther and is built around a quad-core or 6-core Intel Core i7, Core i7 Extreme or Xeon 5600 series central processing unit.

The selected chip is backed up by the aforementioned up to 24 GB of memory and paired with high-end, DirectX 11 graphics from NVIDIA or AMD.

The list of available video boards includes the GeForce GTX 480M, GTX 460M, GTX 470M, Quadro FX 3800M, FX 5000M or ATI Mobility HD 5870.

There is also up to 3.5TB of storage available, via 4 drives, which can be set up in RAID 0/1/5/10.

The other machine that Eurocom prepared is the Panther 2.0, centered around a six-core Core i7-980X Extreme or Xeon 5600 chip.

This workstation can have either one or two GPUs (SLI), the available cards being the same as those on the D900F Panther, except for the fact that the Radeon HD 5870 is not available.

The storage capacity on this models is also identical to the one featured in its sibling (3.5 TB via 4 drives).

Those interested in the full information available on either laptop will find them already listed on their maker's website. The Panther 2.0 ($2631) can be configured here, whereas the D900F Panther ($2977) can be found here.
