Singer Etta James is dying. After a very hard year, the iconic singer is now in the “final stages of leukemia,” her manager of 30 years has just confirmed, while asking fans to pray for her.

Etta was diagnosed with leukemia and dementia a while back, and her condition has been worsening this past year.

In recent weeks, it has taken a turn for the worse, her manager Lupe de Leon says in a statement cited by Entertainment Weekly.

Her condition is now “terminal” and fans should pray for her, de Leon says.

“Etta has a terminal illness. She’s in the final stages of leukemia. She has also been diagnosed with dementia and Hepatitis C. She’s in a home right now and mostly sleeps,” the manager says.

Her condition is so bad that all they can do right now is wait for the end to come – and pray.

“She is under the care of a live-in doctor from Riverside Community Hospital and two others who have placed her on oxygen. Her husband is with her 24 hours a day, and her sons visit regularly. We’re all very sad. We’re just waiting,” de Leon states.

Granted, no one in Etta's circle believed things would go bad so quickly. When she started working on her latest album, “The Dreamer,” no one imagined she would end up in such a state.

”It’s ironic because she sounded so vibrant and powerful on it. It was only recorded two and a half years ago,” de Leon says.

Back in January this year, the fans first learned of how severe Etta's condition was, when her husband and son took matters to court over who would pay for her home treatment.

James had created a separate account, which was to be used to pay for her home treatment medical bills, and the two could not agree on who should administer it, as we also informed you at the time.
