Escape Plan, the nifty little puzzle platformer for the PlayStation Vita, will receive a special update next week, which includes not only improvements, but also a free downloadable add-on in the form of Bakuki’s Lair.

PlayStation Vita owners were treated with a wide array of games at the end of February when the handheld console came out.

Among the downloadable titles was the delightful Escape Plan, a black and white puzzle platformer from Fun Bits Interactive.

Now, after players have already guided the two protagonists, Lil and Laarg, through some of their adventures, the studio has confirmed that a first bit of DLC is coming next week, called Bakuki’s Lair.

What’s more, this update will be completely free, being included in patch 1.01 for Escape Plan.

“On April 10th, Escape Plan owners will receive Bakuki’s Lair, the first DLC Pack for Escape Plan, via download of Patch 1.01,” the studio revealed. “This free DLC Pack adds 19 prequel puzzle rooms to the adventures of Lil and Laarg. Our hapless heroes’ journey begins anew with Lil and Laarg trapped in a hazardous sausage factory, where they will become bratwurst if they don’t bail. You’ll need to swipe for your life through a handful of dastardly designed puzzles in this latest update.”

Besides the actual DLC, update 1.01 for Escape Plan on the PS Vita adds a variety of tweaks and improvements based on feedback from players.

These include more accurate touch controls, as well as an enhanced star rating system. Besides these modifications, the patch also lays the foundation for bigger updates that will arrive at a later point in time.

In case you want to show your love of Escape Plan, then you’ll be happy to hear that a pack of avatars based on the game will be released on the PlayStation Store this week. While regular PSN users need to pay for it, PlayStation Plus subscribers get it for free.
