Ericsson will start building a HSPA-enabled 3G network for a leading Argentinean telecommunications operator, called Personal. This means that it will introduce a new solution for upgrading the current network to much higher standards and performances.

Ericsson will introduce Mobile Softswitch in order to provide new 3G/HSPA core and radio network. Moreover, they plan on playing an important part when it comes to providing business consulting services. As a result of the solutions provided by Ericsson, Personal will be capable of offering far better mobile broadband services and deliver true broadband speed.

The major advantages that Ericsson's contribution to network development will bring are pointed out by Marco di Costanzo, Mobile Network Director, of Personal Argentina. "Ericsson's state-of-the-art technology and experience in 3G/WCDMA/HSPA systems will allow us to provide a best-in-class end-to-end customer experience. It will also enable us to make a giant leap forward on the Argentinean mobile broadband market enabling new multimedia services delivery", he says.

On the other hand, this partnership is a fruitful one for the Argentinian side too. "We are pleased and honored to be Personal's partner in transforming and expanding its network, enabling mobile broadband and the multimedia era and we look forward to continue our strong long- term relationship", said Daniel Caruso, Executive Vice President of Ericsson Argentina.

The all-IP core network will have significant contribution in modernizing the network's technology. Ericsson enables at this time speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps and upload speeds of 1.4 Mbps. With the network upgrades, such speeds will go as far as being increased by 20 times through the GSM.GPRS connection. The future speeds are expected to reach 42Mbps and upload speeds 12 Mbps, which is a considerable improvement brought by Ericsson for the Argentinian telecommunications network.
