Ericsson's performances have just been acknowledged through the Mobile Entertainment 2007 Award for Best Managed Services Platform. The company has been especially appreciated for the worldwide deployment of Napster Mobile and some other successes too.

The award is offered both to companies that develop entertainment applications and to those that have a high contribution in their delivery. Ericsson's credit in this picture is that of having a huge portfolio up to this point, working in many countries on upgrading the telecom networks there.

Napster Mobile allows people to use their handsets just like MP3 players by managing their music. They can transfer these files from PC to the mobile phone, browse and buy music directly to the handset. The service has appeared as a result of a collaboration between Ericsson and Napster more than a year ago, and is available on wide markets across the globe.

"We are proud that in addition to our customers, the mobile entertainment industry appreciates and recognizes Napster Mobile and our other music and content services. Ericsson has a very strong offering leveraging both on the innovation and development skills within multimedia, and our global services organization", said Hans Vestberg, Executive Vice President and Head of Business Unit Global Services at Ericsson.

Ericsson's success also comes from the high appreciation that entertainment has for a wide audience. "Music is the second most popular mobile data service after SMS among consumers, and it is paving the way for digital consumption. Our managed services and multimedia offering deliver best in class music services to our customers", commented Jan W?reby, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Unit Multimedia.

Ericsson has been handed the new award as part of the Mobile Entertainment Awards ceremony in London. It seems to have been a tough competition, with strong contestants that have been voted for the winning place by 400 content industry executives, which gives Ericsson even more credit for its success.
