Epson just announced four new Stylus Pro 880 series large format printers, as well as a new line of inks such as the new UltraChrome K2 ink with Vivid Magenta designed to be used in color critical printing applications such as retail displays, color maps and photography. This new Epson large format printer family consists of the following models Epson Stylus Pro 4880, Stylus Pro 7880, Stylus Pro 9880 and Stylus Pro 11880 to provide the most advanced print durability as well as color accuracy and consistency across a large range of media supports.

Especially designed for the new printing family, the brand new 8 color inks are made from the most advanced fourth generation pigment available in order to deliver the color pallet of conventional 12 color ink sets. A new pigment developed by Seiko Epson allowed for the creation of a higher density of magenta and the result is an outstanding: eight color pigment ink with Vivid Magenta and Vivid Light Magenta.

To complement the exceptional quality of the UltraChrome inks, the 880 printer series use the new Epson's Image Processing Technology, that produces smoother tones and much more detail for better print quality, both in low and high resolution modes. The new Image Processing Technology also further improves Epson's gray scale stability and reduces the amount of ink needed in color prints, the result being prints with greater detail all over the printed surface, practically eliminating the metamerism effect.

The entire new Epson printing family (the Stylus Pro 4880, Stylus Pro 7880, and Stylus Pro 9880) uses USB version 2 Ethernet as default interfaces. The ink cartridges used by the Stylus Pro 4880, Stylus Pro 7880, and Stylus Pro 9880 are either 110 or 220ml cartridges, while the bigger 64 inch capable Stylus Pro 11880 uses high capacity 700ml ink cartridges.
