HD content fans pleased by Epson's new projector

Epson actually did have one HD capable projector but it was only a 720p meaning that 1080p content was downsampled when played through the projector. PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080 on the other hand has a real resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 being the first projector coming from Epson ever to reach the 1080p mark. The final product looks good and it delivers very high quality especially when combined with HD-DVD or Blu-Ray players.

On the hardware side, the projector features a three-chip high definition system that delivers crisp clear colors. The AccuCinema Lens system linked to the video processor ensures the fact that there won't be any artifacts when playing video content. Epson's proprietary technology Absolute Black delivers a whopping contrast ratio of 12,000:1 and a maximum brightness of 1,200 ANSI Lumens.

The back side of the projector features a plethora of connectors including S-Video and Composite inputs but also DVI, VGA and even a HDMI connector. So there's everything you could wish for on the back of this projector. The only thing that doesn't quite add up to the picture is the high price this chap has. For $5,000 you could just as well buy a pretty large LCD screen. But if you prefer to have a true home cinema in your living room and watch HD content in its full size, you'll remember this product.

Brands like Sony and Optoma have already introduced their 1080p projectors so it won't be an easy fight for Epson to gain the attention, especially since its contenders come with the same amount of connectors and quality features. The question here is what brand tickles you most, not how good it performs. And here, Epson still has the goods.
