Comprising no less than five new models

Looks like Epson is not about to settle with rolling out one or two projectors. No, the company has decided to do things in a much more "grandiose" style and rolled out no less than five new models, all under the "umbrella" of the G5000 family.

Thus, as the company's press release informs us, the new G5000 series includes the EB-G5100 and EB-G5150 standard XGA 4000 ANSI lumen models, whilst the EB-G5300 and EB-G5350 provide a 5000 ANSI lumen equivalent. The G-5200W boasts WXGA capacity to create a widescreen image at a 1280 x 800 resolution.

Vincent VAN RIJ, Epson's Europe product manager, commented on the company's new release, saying that "The G5000 series represents the next stage in the evolution of installation projectors. This new range totally replaces Epson's products in this category, incorporating a range of Epson innovations and offering outstanding performance, flexibility and versatility."

Now, let's see how Mr. Van Rij's statement translates into pure, hard figures. The new G5000 projectors are indeed among the brightest available on the market, delivering up to 5000 ANSI lumens and featuring a whole range of practical features, as for example the innovative control panel, located at the rear of the chassis, rather than at the top of the unit, which allows easy setup and adjustment with the projector already ceiling mounted.

Furthermore, a discreet and seamless cable cover is included to hide unsightly wires and connection points, while the modular lenses are bayonet-mounted, so they can be quickly and easily changed. And since it comes with five optional lenses, complemented by lens shift capability enabling screen adjustments of up to 60 percent vertically and 10 percent horizontally, the projectors in this series can actually adapt to a much more widespread array of environments.

It's also interesting to mention that the projectors from the new G5000 series are accompanied by the Epson EMP Monitor software, which allows the projector to be configured and operated remotely over a network. However, they also sport other interesting connectivity options as well, as for example the USB and SD card slot, which allows PC free projection of presentations and other multimedia content directly from USB keys and SD cards. The EB-G5350 and EB-G5150 series supports most file formats including videos in MPEG2, MPEG4 and WMV, meaning content can be downloaded and played directly.

As for functioning life... well, we'll let Mr. Van Rij explain: "In addition to the G5000 series' exceptional flexibility and functionality, the products are also very durable - making them perfect for long-term installations. Lamp-life has been extended to 3000 operational hours and our redesigned electrostatic filter is both highly efficient and long-lasting."

Unfortunately, no pricing details are available at this time, the only serious info being the fact that the new projectors will arrive in stores at some point in the second half of June/first half of July.
