The site offered a tragedy recipe consisting in whole-grain cranberry scones

Editors at recipe site Epicurious have tweeted an apology over earlier posts suggesting that the Boston explosion victims should just chill and eat some whole-grain cranberry scones.

"Boston, our hearts are with you. Here's a bowl of breakfast energy we could all use to start today.

"In honor of Boston and New England, may we suggest: whole-grain cranberry scones!" they wrote after the attacks.

The backlash from their remarks prompted a swift response, but it wasn't the one that their users were asking for.

According to C Net, they deleted the first tweets altogether and posted how they are sorry that their statements "seemed insensitive."

As you can imagine, the term used here implies that those feeling for all the victims and getting enraged by being offered a tragedy recipe are just wrong.

Since then, Epicurious has also deleted that post and replaced it with one bound to reassure everyone of their positive intentions.

"Our food tweets this morning were, frankly, insensitive. Our deepest, sincere apologies," they tweeted.
