Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia made official a new series of entry-level phones, including the Nokia 207 and Nokia 208, as well as a dual-SIM flavor of the latter.

The new handsets arrive on shelves with the familiar candybar design of Nokia devices, 3G connectivity capabilities, and support for social networking applications, Internet sharing, and Mail for Exchange support.

The new mobile phones pack alphanumeric keypads, as well as support for applications available through the Nokia Store, such as the Transfer app, which enables users to transform them into on-the-go companions for their smartphones.

Furthermore, the new Nokia 208 Dual SIM comes with support for Nokia's Easy Swap technology, which enables users to change SIM cards without having to power off the device.

"The Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 are designed for people who like a classic phone and traditional keypad but don't want to miss out on smartphone experiences, like staying connected to social media and accessing the Internet," said Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia.

"As our most affordable 3G devices yet, the Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 offer a perfect balance of performance, features and quality."

Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp applications come pre-installed on these phones, along with the Nokia Xpress Browser. Nokia claims that video streaming from YouTube is available on the new devices as well.

Nokia announced the new handsets with support for GSM 850/900/1800/1900 WCDMA 850, 900/1900, and 2100 networks, 2.4-inch QVGA screens, Bluetooth 3.0 with Slam sharing, micro USB, 3.5mm AV connector, and AHJ headphone support.

Additionally, there’s a 1020mAh battery packed inside the new devices, with up to 33 days of standby time for the Nokia 207 and Nokia 208, and up to 20 days of standby time on the Nokia 208 Dual SIM.

Nokia 208 also comes with a 1.3-megapixel photo snapper. Design-wise, the presence of a camera on the back of this device is the only thing that sets it apart from the Nokia 207.

The new mobile phones were designed with 256 MB of flash memory, as well as with microSD memory card slots with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The new Nokia 207, Nokia 208, and Nokia 208 Dual SIM are set to arrive on shelves in red, cyan, white, and black color flavors, and will start shipping in the third quarter of the year, featuring a price tag of around $68 (€52.4) before taxes and operator subsidies.
