Hot on the heels of the announcement that the Beatles will be arriving on iTunes comes the press release from EMI that announces Paul McCartney's solo catalog. Fans will have plenty of content to choose from in the upcoming days.

EMI Music is preparing a comprehensive re-launch of Paul McCartney's solo catalog, including new digital campaigns as well as physical re-releases. This means that, for the very first time, McCartney and Wings albums will be made available across all digital platforms. The catalog stretches from Paul's first solo album McCartney through his releases with Wings to his latest critically acclaimed studio album Chaos And Creation In The Backyard. Within these albums lies a breathtaking list of singles including Band On The Run, My Love, Let 'Em In, and Jet.

Tony Wadsworth, chairman & CEO, EMI Music UK said in the press release, "Paul McCartney's post-Beatles catalog, spanning four decades, is one of the great treasures of popular music. EMI is proud to be introducing Paul's music to the digital marketplace."

Paul McCartney recently received the Album of the Year award at the Classical Brit Awards for his classical album Ecce Cor Meum. Paul McCartney releases his next studio album Memory Almost Full on 4th June 2007.

While not as big as the news of the Beatles, which after years of delays will finally become available, this news is nevertheless welcome for fans of McCartney. Considering that it would make most sense for the catalogue to be released around the same time as McCartney's next studio album, the event would probably be on the heels of the Beatles release, which is most likely to take place on the 1st of June.
