The Enlightenment desktop environment was updated a few hours ago, on February 25, and according to the release notes, it includes a number of improvements and fixes from the previous point release. The Enlightenment 0.19.4 should arrive on the main software repositories of major Linux distributions.

According to the official changelog, the Wayland-only support has been removed from the software. Enlightenment 0.19.4 fixes the maximization issue that affected various open-source software, including LibreOffice, now uses rational default values in the Enlightenment backlight component, and fixes various issues with cpufreq on FreeBSD operating systems.

It also addresses the netwm issue, making the client list to update after adding items. The Enlightenment File Manager (EFM) now lists directories a lot fast, because the development team removed the sync functionality and other unnecessary things. Additionally, the Enlightenment menu received some attention, as the auto-scroll function and submenu popup direction now work on zones that are not at the 0 y coordinates.

The new maintenance release of Enlightenment DR19 also fixes some dialog sizing issues that occurred when icon setting fails, addresses the loading of the appindicator icon, repairs border frame color classes, which are now configured as solids instead of text, removes unneeded icon settings, fixes sizing in edgebindings, fixes notification popup text issues, and renames the annoying “E_Screen_Limits”.

The new Enlightenment DR19 release sees a lot of under-the-hood fixes

In technical terms, Enlightenment 0.19.4 now makes sure that duplicate XDG paths are not prepended when the desktop starts, checks to see if “eldbus” exists in device backend libs instead of edbus, no longer sends unfocused signals to override clients, automatically sets the default text for the “edgebindings” caption if there are no bindings, and the “bgpreview” vsize is no longer clamped if the “bgpreview” function is defined as a full-screen overlay.

Until the Enlightenment 0.19.4 packages arrive on the software repositories of your GNU/Linux operating system, you can download the source packages of the beautiful and modern desktop environment right now from Softpedia, but keep in mind that you will have to compile it.
