You really must see it in action

NaturalPoint announced the TrackIR 4 Pro Head Tracker that provides computer gamers and simulation fans with a new experience in gaming, which, the company claims, is not possible with any other devices on the market.

The device offers six degrees of freedom (6DOF) tracking using NaturalPoint's Vector Technology. The users are able to look around the game environment with easy movements of the head. 6DOF can be translated as the movement of the player's game in any direction, having the game view moving correspondingly. This technology provides more realism to flight simulators, racing games or first person shooters.

The appearance of the TrackIR 4 Pro is changed with respect to the previous versions, the device being slimmer and lighter, with a half-inch profile. Also, the mounting base is designed for the new flat panel monitors.

It has a 46 degree field of view, with almost a 30% larger movement area than its predecessor. Other improvements are the quicker response time and the higher resolution given by NaturalPoint's Resolution Doubling technology.

The best way to understand how the TrackIR works is to see it in action. A demo video featuring MSFS2004, a flight simulator, and GTR, a racing simulator, are available online.

TrackIR 4 Pro is available for US$179.95.
