Developer CI Games has released a new video for the upcoming war-themed first-person shooter Enemy Front, highlighting some of the features of the game's multiplayer.

The shooter is set largely in the Warsaw Ghetto during the Second World War, which raises the bar by quite a bit by default, as instead of the typical macho bravado found in other such games, you expect the narrative side of business to come into focus a bit more.

Hopefully, Enemy Front will be able to deliver an experience that presents the horrors of war in a less glorious manner, focusing on the toll war takes on everyone involved, especially since the setting chosen is among the best to convey such a point of view.

You are put into the shoes of an American war correspondent who gets caught up with various Resistance groups across Europe, and you will visit various theaters of war and witness some of the Nazi atrocities committed during the war.

The developers tout their game to break the mold of standard linear shooters and to offer freedom when it comes to the way players approach combat, accommodating multiple playing styles.

Boasting that Enemy Front is the first truly modern World War 2 first-person shooter, the developers also mention open-ended levels and a highly interactive combat experience that maximizes player engagement and the game's replayability.

During their adventures, players will get help from a British Commando and a French Resistance fighter, and all the action will be delivered in the form of flashbacks of actual historical events taking place in Norway and Poland, with a large part of the story focusing on the Warsaw Uprising.

The multiplayer trailer released by CI Games shows a pretty conventional type of action, with dudes running around gunning other dudes with a plethora of World War 2 weaponry, without any dialogue or drama to get in the way of the fast-paced action.

The team has said that Enemy Front's multiplayer will introduce two original modes, in addition to the usual deathmatch and team deathmatch ones. The new modes are said to be original ways in which to explore multiplayer mechanics, but the trailer sadly shows nothing of the sort.

It remains to be seen whether CI Games is able to deliver on their promise, and the wait won't be long, as Enemy Front is coming out on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on June 10.
