French developer Amplitude Studios has released the Guardians expansion for its hit turn-based strategy title, Endless Legend, adding a wealth of new content for its fans to enjoy.

The strategy title was released in September 2014, being well received by both fans and critics, and lauded for its many innovative features. One of the game's strong points is the seamless manner in which it blends together role-playing, strategy and tactical features, crafting a unique and satisfying experience.

Offering several very distinct factions, whose particularities actually alter the way you approach the game, not only the visual style of the units and buildings, Endless Legend was a worthwhile successor to Amplitude's previous 4X entry, Endless Space, marking an evolution in the turn-based genre.

Now, the French studio has further expanded on what makes the game so enthralling with the Guardians expansion, adding a new layer of complexity and more intriguing lore elements.

What's new

First and foremost, the Guardians are huge, lumbering units that are an integral part of Auriga, the planet the action takes place on. Being initially imprisoned by the Endless centuries ago, they have broken free from their shackles, and are now roaming the land.

They can be unlocked via research, and constructed by players with enough resources to spare, in order to wreak havoc on the opposition. There are a total of five Guardians, corresponding to the four elements, water, air, fire and earth, and another one attuned to Dust, Auriga's mystical resource.

In order to further change things up, Amplitude has added Legendary Deeds, yet another way to compete with the other empires in the map, as well as new Global Events that can affect the entire planet.

After completing a Legendary Deed, in each technological era, players will be able to construct massive Legendary Buildings. Similar to the Wonders in the Civilization series, the awe-inspiring structures will be unique on the map.

In addition to this, there will be more Unique buildings, that can only be built once per empire, providing various benefits to players who wish to specialize their cities.
