Playing NBA 2K14, FIFA 14 and more Total War: Rome II

Andrei Dumitrescu: I have never been able to enjoy basketball as much as I enjoy football, either in the real world or in virtual form, but this weekend, I will try to spend some more time with NBA 2K14, the simulation from developer Visual Concepts and publisher 2K Games.

The two companies have made some big changes to the way players are controlled and, while they seem a little weird at first, especially for veterans, I do believe that I can master them as long as I put in a lot of time and a little energy.

I want to create a player in my own likeness and then progress through the ranks as far as I can, while putting the emphasis on team work rather than on personal glory.

Basketball is sure to get frustrating at some point, given my skill level, and that means I will abandon the new title in order to play more Total War: Rome II, where I currently have three big campaigns in various stages of progression.

The game is more satisfying now than it was on launch and I might even gather the courage required to challenge another real human in multiplayer over the weekend.

My third go to a game will be FIFA 14, the football simulation from EA Sports, which I have done my best to ignore since I played it for about two days straight.

But I have succumbed to pressure from friends and my own brother and I am now the host of a four-player revolving tournament in which I am currently the weakest player because I fail to deliver the accurate crosses that most of the others use.

Andrei Dobra is still enjoying his free time, but will be back to talk about his gaming plans next week.
