Dragon Age is drawing its last breath

Andrei Dumitrescu: After several weekends that were dominated by Dragon Age: Origins, I tend to think that I need to take on some other genre. I'm not putting the BioWare role-playing game away for good, but only reducing the play time I devote to it.

In the coming two days, I will return to Hearts of Iron 3, which was released in August and has recently received the 1.3 patch that is, apparently, eliminating most of the issues with the title while adding no game-breaking bug. I plan to try out a few mods for it, although the big ones, like CORE 3 or the Total Realism Project, are probably at least one year away from a release date.

And, in keeping with the Paradox grand strategy theme, I will also fire off Europa Universalis III, which is set to get the Heir to the Throne expansion later in December. It's bigger in scope than HoI III and, at the moment, much more complete and enjoyable as an experience.

Florian Totu: To my surprise, in spite of having Left 4 Dead 2 or Rogue Warrior to properly investigate, I found myself drawn into Divinity 2: Ego Draconis. The game looks pretty choppy, with graphics and textures looking like it still clings to a technology that's a few years old, still, the story is very engaging and the characters of the world as well are incredibly funny, with quite a few of them making some seriously over-the-top necromancy jokes. The combat is very dynamic and, even though it's pretty simple, it takes quite a bit of practice to master, but it's very rewarding once you do.

Other games aren't really very enacting right now. I've finished Dragon Age once already and have started two alts, an elf rouge and an elf mage, built for an Arcane Warrior specialization, but don't really feel like going through the same motions again. The one thing that I haven't done in quite a while is play ConterStrike: Source, and, as I've seen, my skills have rusted considerably since back in the day of the bHz League, currently the RCL. It's a temporary setback, I'm sure, but I do plan to have a bit more fun with the game this weekend. I also have this strange feeling that I'll get back to a little bit of Mass Effect, just to sate some of my BioWare addiction.
