Ubisoft is announcing that it has released the first patch for the PC version of EndWar, the real strategy title set in the Tom Clancy universe. There are quite a few changes in the patch, the most important one being listed below. You can use this link to get the EndWar patch 1.1 from Softpedia.

Ubisoft is saying that it has eliminated most of the crashes, especially those that occurred on the Windows XP 64 bit version, and those linked to the naming of the game folder. The publisher is also claiming to have fixed the performance drop that appeared after gamers played online for more than six matches and to have improved the 3D render optimization when multithreading is available. Ubisoft has also added handy Framer Per Second information when playing online games to make sure that all players can see who has the lowest FPS and is limiting the overall speed of the game.

Along with the major fixes listed above, Ubisoft is also saying that the game should run better overall thanks to better memory allocation and to certain improvements in the game code. The multiplayer experience has also been significantly streamlined, with more options added for game setup and with superior stability for games.

Tom Clancy's EndWar was initially released on the Xbox 360 and on the PlayStation 3 gaming consoles in an effort to be the breakthrough strategy title for those devices. The major innovation of the game is the implementation of a voice command system, which works well with the console controllers.

On the PC, the game can be played with a mouse and keyboard setup alongside voice command but much of the novelty factor wears off when compared to titles like Dawn of War II or Company of Heroes.
