More maps and upgrades

Tom Clancy’s EndWar has quite an interesting idea for a real time strategy title - the fact that you can control the entire game via voice commands. The tactical aspect of EndWar, based on a rock paper scissors system (basically transporting helicopters that beat armor), combined with the strategy layer, where you can upgrade your troops, make for a pretty interesting gaming experience. The three sides, the European Union, the United States and Russia, play pretty much the same, but the title is satisfying for strategy fans who are looking for a console game to play.

Now, Ubisoft is releasing a piece of DLC for the game, called The Escalation Pack. It will be available today, December 11, for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. On Xbox Live, the new pack will cost 800 Microsoft Points, while on the PlayStation Network, you will get Escalation for 9.99 dollars.

The big new content element in Escalation consists of four exclusive missions based on fresh battlefields. In the game’s skirmish mode, you will be able to siege the Kursk Firebase in Ukraine, assault Devon beach in England, raid the Rota Naval Base in Spain and conquer the Dorsey Knob in West Virginia, United States.

The downloadable content also adds three new unit upgrades, allowing the player to further customize their troops around their tactics and there are also ten fresh Achievements for the Xbox 360 and ten Trophies for the PlayStation 3.

Together with the Escalation Pack, Ubisoft is also releasing a free title update for EndWar, which is designed to fix some small issues, while also implementing four versus four battles.

At the moment, you can only get the Xbox 360 version of the update, with the PlayStation 3 variant coming in early 2009.
