PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers get all the good stuff

Browsing 3D Gamers today, I stumbled upon an interesting piece of information. Apparently, Dark Sector has been removed from 3D Gamers' upcoming games list because the title was canceled.

We are talking about the PC version of the game, and not the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions which are still on for 2007 third quarter release. It was supposed to be among the best PC games of 2007, if we are to judge after the numerous tech demos. I watched countless in-game cinematics, just waiting for the game to come out on the PC, so I will get a chance to take advantage of the Sector Engine graphics.

Little is known about the storyline of the game, except that it's set in a fictional Soviet-bloc country in the near future. The game was supposed to have both a single-player mode as well as a multiplayer one, with players taking full advantage of biological weapons. Dark Sector's main character is Hayden Tenno, a CIA clean-up guy. While he is on a mission in a country from the former Soviet-bloc, he is exposed to a biological element which mutates him. His arm changes dramatically, and he gains the ability to grow a three-bladed weapon called a glaive instantly.

Digital Extremes, the game's developer, as well as D3 Publisher did not want to comment on the PC version cancellation, but they've probably realized that the console market will bring them much more money than the PC games market.
