AskMeNow and Encyclopaedia Britannica announced the launch of a mobile encyclopedia, based on the famous Britannica Concise Encyclopedia. Users can now access one of the most respected reference sources by sending a simple text message to ASKME (27563).

Mobile users can send a text query on information covered by Britannica Concise Encyclopedia, and AskMeNow will search more than 28,000 Britannica articles to return results. Users can also sign up to receive Britannica Mobile Dailies, daily topical features sent directly to their mobile phones free of charge via AskMeNow, such as Biography of the Day, Quote of the Day, and This Day in History.

"People today want answers and information when they're on the go - on the train, in a restaurant or just walking down the street talking to a friend," said Dan Smith, a senior vice president with Encyclopaedia Britannica. "AskMeNow lets people learn whenever it's convenient for them and helps us give them answers whenever questions come up."

Encyclopaedia Britannica will promote the service on the home page of its popular website. AskMeNow will also promote the Britannica Mobile Dailies on its home page as well as in the answers sent to its customers.

"AskMeNow remains committed to providing the world's most outstanding mobile content," said Darryl Cohen, CEO of AskMeNow. "AskMeNow is providing a world of information by offering mobile access to one of the most comprehensive and respected references."

Customers will also have access to the full suite of AskMeNow services, which provides direct answers to virtually any question including 411, Weather, Directions, Sports Scores, Flights & Hotels, Horoscopes, Stock Quotes, Movie Times & Theatres, News, Trivia and more.

Customers can receive the Britannica Mobile Dailies by registering at Encyclopaedia Britannica's or AskMeNow's websites, or by sending a text message with a promotion code to ASKME (27563).
