These days even the most basic pieces of technology come sporting features meant to amaze possible customers.

Enblink is one of those bland pieces of technology that you wouldn't think could be capable of much. Basically, this is a cheap dongle that can be plugged in the Google TV box, but the interesting part comes only now.

Once that happens, you step into the realm of Sci-Fi, sort of. The dongle is apparently capable of controlling any Z-Wave-enabled appliance you have in your house (like door locks and lights) by virtue of an app.

What’s more, users will be able to do so using vocal commands. At the moment, the system is not the best it could be, as you will need to create “scenes” which means you’ll have to add a voice “widget” to the main screen.

After you’re done settings things up, you can vocalize basic commands like “lamp on,” “TV off” or “dim light” to make your environment respond to your needs.

The Enblink Plugin for Google costs $85 / €62 and you can order one right now.
