Quite a big demo

SEGA and Creative Assembly, the publisher and the developer of Empire: Total War, have partnered up with Valve in order to use Steam to deliver the demo for the strategy title that is set to arrive in stores, and on Steam, at the beginning of March.

If you have the Steam client installed and a valid account, you can launch it right now and download the demo. Be warned that it's quite a big install, at about 2 GB, and if you plan to also get the game on Steam, that will be a separate download.

The Empire: Total War demo will allow gamers to play exactly two battles. One is fought on land and will cast the player in the role of the British Empire as its soldiers try to push the American revolutionary forces out of Philadelphia. The other is fought on the high seas and offers players a chance to use the ships of the British Empire to crush the French navy as they try an amphibious landing. It doesn't sound like too much but the demo is set to allow players to see the main mechanics Empire: Total War will employ.

Naval warfare will be the main addition to the long running Total War series and blasting ships in real time will probably prove to be very fun and engaging. The game is also getting a bigger map, which is split into three sections in order to allow the player more strategic options. The importance of diplomacy and economic warfare is bigger than in the previous releases and the game looks better than ever.

Empire: Total War launches on March 4 for the PC. Expect some impressions regarding the demo in the following days. It's nice to see that SEGA and Creative Assembly have thought to release the demo of the game a full two weeks before the official launch.
