14 DAY TRIAL // “The Twilight Saga” has one of the largest and most vocal fanbases in the world, comparable perhaps only to that of young pop superstar Justin Bieber. The Twi-hards, as they’re called, are not only female teens, as some may believe, as the appeal of the vampire meets human meets werewolf story even touches the hearts of their moms. Actress Emma Roberts got to see on her own just how dedicated these fans are, E! Online informs.
Roberts, who is the daughter of Eric Roberts and the niece of Julia Roberts, was on Jay Leno the other night to promote her latest project. Also there was Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen in the “Twilight” films. Inevitably, Leno asked Emma to say whether she was on Team Edward or Team Jacob – and she chose the latter, much to the disappointment and outrage of the fan community, who has literally pushed her out of Twitter.
In other words, for choosing Team Jacob, Emma got such harsh abuse on Twitter that she was forced to delete her page altogether. “Robert Pattinson seemed to handle it OK when Emma Roberts revealed on The Tonight Show that she’s on Team Jacob. Team Edward, however, had a much harder time with it. ‘Team Jacob? Ewwwwwwwww!!!!! >.<,’ opined user iluvjasperhale1, who put it mildly compared to some. ‘Rob Pattinson is so nice! I was slightly disappointed his skin wasn’t glittering & the song Wild Thing didn’t start when he shook my hand,’ Roberts wrote on Twitter last night, one of her last missives before a deluge of hate tweets prompted her to delete her entire account. But it appears that the rational Twihards out there are coming out of the woodwork, now that their more rabid brethren have already scared Roberts away,” E! writes.
“‘Dear Emma Roberts, Sorry abt our fandom,’ wrote alonelily. ‘Please know not all of us act that way. I didn’t agree w/ your Jay antics, but won’t cuss you out.’ Added Kstews_Knickers: ‘Emma Roberts deleted her twitter? I can safely say I’m very embarrassed to even be part of Twilight at this point. Rob made a joke about it!’ Indeed he did. ‘Well, you just revealed yourself to have no taste,’ Pattinson scoffed in response to Roberts’ admission,” the same e-zine writes.
