Eminem opens up to Rolling Stone, reveals he’s only read one book in his entire life

Rapper Eminem is featured in the latest issue of iconic music magazine Rolling Stone, with the intriguing caption “The Road Back from Hell.” In the accompanying interview, the rapper talks drug addiction, love of music and Diet Coke.

As excerpts obtained by E! Online confirm, Em also reveals he was once so obsessed with his weight that his ideal body was that of Christian Bale in “The Machinist,” a role for which the actor lost a lot of weight, becoming virtually a shadow of his former self.

Em also dishes some details about his unofficial “sponsor” Sir Elton John and how he was the first person he called when he realized the drugs were killing him and he needed to break the addiction circle.

However, perhaps the most interesting part of the interview, E! says, is that Eminem, though extremely skilled with words, has only read a single book in his life. Good vocabulary comes naturally to him, he says.

“The only book I ever read from front to back was LL [Cool J]’s autobiography, I Make My Own Rules. I just never really got into books. But I’ve always been good at English and I always had a lot of words in my vocabulary,” the rapper says.

As for the favorite place to put all those words on paper, Eminem reveals he writes his best music on the toilet because, as he sees it, what else is there to do when you’re in there.

“I think we do most of our best thinking on the [toilet]. What else do you have to do in there besides think?” the rapper explains. Clearly, he’s done some very good thinking in recent months, since he’s recently been named the Hottest MC in the Game for 2010 by MTV.

Speaking of his house arrangements, Eminem also reveals he has a spare room especially for 50 Cent, for whenever he happens to drop by. The same goes for a “few [other] close friends.”

“He is one of my good friends. There’s an extra bedroom in the house that he’ll stay in when he comes to town,” Em says.
