He and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen rehearsed it thoroughly

If there was anyone left with doubts as to what has been described as the most outrageous, hysterically funny and completely out of line skit in the entire history of the MTV Movie Awards ceremony, rapper Eminem is here to set the record straight. When comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, aka Bruno, landed in his lap during the awards show, he did so according to what they had rehearsed, nether regions in close proximity to the face and everything, the rapper tells RapRadar.

Speculation has been running rampant that either Eminem was a victim in the skit (which would have explained his extremely angry reaction and storming out of the room) or that he knew of it but had not been told the extent to which Bruno would take the joke (which, again, would have explained the reaction). Yesterday, MTV writer Scott Aukerman confirmed that the entire segment had been staged, and now it’s the rapper’s turn to say out loud that, indeed, he was in on the joke and he even knew that Bruno would be wearing only a gladiator skirt and a jockstrap while performing it.

“Sacha called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards. I’m a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag.” Eminem tells the aforementioned publication when asked about whether he knew of Cohen’s intentions for the ceremony. As for what he did after he left the gala, Eminem says he was so pleased with how the skit came out that he could barely contain his laughter for three whole hours. Seeing other stars’ (gullible) reaction must have helped.

“I’m thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it. It had so many people going ‘nuts’ so to speak. Everyone was blowing me up about it. After the ceremony I went back to my hotel and laughed uncontrollably for about 3 hours. Especially after I saw it on air.” the rapper reveals. At the same time, Eminem also uses the opportunity to address a rumor that emerged yesterday and that had it that his room had been sacked and he robbed of many thousands of bucks’ worth of jewelry while he was at the awards – only a Nike watch was missing, the rapper explains.

As we also informed you the other day, Eminem performed a medley of new tracks at the MTV Movie Awards (“We Made You” & “Crack a Bottle”), in what was his first live performance on the MTV stage in many years.
