Actress Emily Deschanel is now asking that people in the United States take the time to save a mom and her son. Actually, she hopes that several moms and quite a lot of sons will be rescued as a result of her plea.

Not to beat about the bush, the celebrity has recently joined hands with green-oriented group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).

The result is a brand new anti dairy farms campaign, whose goal is that of introducing the general public to the horror that mother cows and their “sons” and “daughters” experience in such facilities.

“Mother cows on dairy farms have their young traumatically torn away from them shortly after birth so that the milk meant for their calves can be sold to people instead,” Emily Deschanel explains.

The actress, who happens to be a mom herself, goes on to speak against the practice of dehorning calves, saying that it is inhumane and that is causes tremendous pain to the animals.

As explained on PETA's official website, there is one very simple way of rescuing both cows and their calves from this ordeal: giving up on eating meat and dairy products.

“The best way to help cows abused by the dairy industry and keep your family healthy is to stock your fridge with delicious vegan foods. Please join me in standing up for all mothers by refusing to support the cruel dairy industry,” Emily Deschanel says.

This latest anti dairy farms campaign was launched just a few days before the United States' celebrating Mother's Day.

Both PETA and Emily Deschanel hope that this upcoming celebration will help draw more attention to their message.

Those wishing to offer their support to this campaign can do so by pledging to become a vegan.
