The assault of the cheap Windows 8.1 tablets has started and today we see another company introduce a 7-inch slate bundled with the OS.

The Windows 8.1 tablet ecosystem is getting more interesting by the day. Yesterday on the grounds at Computex 2014, Microsoft itself announced a new addition to the Toshiba Encore tablet lineup.

Toshiba already rolled out two Windows 8.1 tablets, coming in 8-inch and 10.1-inch form factors a little before the trade show in Taiwan kickstarted, but now the company was showcasing a 7-inch tablet running the same operating system and running on Bay Trail.

7-inch tablets running on Windows 8.1 aren't all that common, so it will be interesting to see which companies will hurry up to provide similar alternatives.

Actually not a day has passed since Toshiba and Microsoft’s announcement, and we get word that another 7-inch Windows 8.1 slate has been spotted at Computex 2014.

You might remember the name Emdoor, because not so long ago we told you this obscure little brand managed to pull off something quite exciting for you, Windows 8.1 fans out there.

In Taiwan, the company showed off an 8-inch tablet, called the I8080 which comes with a decent set of specifications and sells for just $100 / €73.

But Emdoor is not settling for an 8-incher and is willing to attack the 7-inch category, too. Thus the company will soon be offering the Emdoor Miso, a device that on paper looks very similar to the I8080, it’s just a little bit smaller, says Liliputing.

The Miso arrives with a 7-inch IPS display capable of delivering 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and draws life from an Intel Z3735 quad-core Bay Trail processor.

The small-framed device is sustained by an 11.1 Whr battery, so you should be able to use the tablet for about six hours or so.

Emdoor has also added 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage to complete the low-cost scenario. Emdoor hasn't specified which price the slate will be sold for, but judging that the 8-incher is going to retail for $100 / €73, the Miso’s price should be far off.

Adopters of this budget slate will also receive a free-of-charge 1-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365 Personal, so you have guaranteed access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Office-related applications.

Other specifications of the tablet include micro USB port, microSD card slot and micro HDMI out. Moreover, there’s Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Miracast wireless display but also two 2MP rear and frontal cameras.
