The South San Francisco Embassy Suites hotel located at the San Francisco Airport has started alerting customers after discovering credit card skimmers attached to a couple of computers at the front desk.

According to the notification letter, the skimming devices were uncovered last year. It’s uncertain for how long they had been attached to the computers. However, they were designed to capture names, payment card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes (CVV2).

Embassy Suites General Manager Rudy Ortiz has revealed that the company’s computer systems have not been breached, highlighting the fact that payment card data has been obtained with a “manual device.”

Law enforcement has been called in to investigate.

The company’s representatives have told SC Magazine that a total of 44 individuals are affected, but notifications are being sent out to a larger number of customers as a precaution.
