26-year-old Elizabeth Johnson has been imprisoned for 3 years, following the disappearance of her then-8-month-old son, Gabriel. The child was never found and, after a lengthy trial, the woman was convicted for unlawful imprisonment, on Thursday.

According to NPR, in 2010, Johnson told the boy's father that she had killed their son and dumped him in a trash can in the proximity of a hotel. After law enforcement searched trash cans at the hotel they had last stayed at, as well as a landfill in the area, they found no physical evidence to attest to that.

In 2009, she and Gabriel's father, Logan McQueary, didn’t agree about whether or not they should give up the boy for adoption, with the mother desperately wanting to give him away.

Without the man's consent, she signed over the boy to a Scottsdale couple for 10 days, after which she left Arizona with him for Florida, then returned without him.

As the body of the boy was never found, charges were downgraded to kidnapping, and the woman awaits sentencing.
