Frontier Developments has released two new videos for their space opera sim Elite: Dangerous, showcasing the neat features just added to the game.

Elite: Dangerous is the spiritual successor to the classic Elite, bringing the same gameplay, ripe with romantic adventures, privateering and generally hanging out in space, in a futuristic setting that takes full advantage of today’s technology.

The action takes place in a vast, connected galaxy, offering users unparalleled freedom when it comes to where they take their open-world adventure. The game also has a reactive, evolving narrative, and has the option to let you enjoy exploring the galaxy in single-player, if you’d rather do without social interactions.

Update 1.2 introduced a new way for gamers to enjoy themselves throughout the vast reaches of space, Wings, a feature that lets users group together and explore the cosmos and achieve various objectives.

Alongside Wings, players can also enjoy the Fer-de-Lance and Vulture ships, a better communications interface, the ability to reboot destroyed systems, and a host of other fixes and tweaks.

The devs have created two videos to showcase what’s new

Developer Frontier Developments has released two new videos, the first one being more informative, going over the changes and additions to Elite: Dangerous, and showing players how to make the best use of all the added functionality.

The second video focuses on highlighting the kind of interactions that update 1.2 enabled, showing a bit of drama and conflict, complete with space shootouts, when a player transporting a rare cargo is ambushed by pirates and seeks the help of three pilots who rush to his side.

The best thing about it is that nothing that it shows is overly flashy or misleading, as everything is already in the game, and you won’t see any crazy maneuvers or situations that you can’t experience yourself.

Elite: Dangerous is available for Windows PC and will be released on Mac OS X and on the Xbox One home entertainment system from Microsoft this summer. The game will also come to the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony, at a later date.
