14 DAY TRIAL // The first red band trailer for “Maniac,” a remake of the classic horror of the same name, starring Elijah Wood as a serial killer, came out one year ago. The film is nearing US release, so IFC Films has just released a new preview.
As I noted on a previous occasion as well, “Maniac” is made up mostly of frames shot from the killer’s perspective, which is bound to make the story more captivating and, at the same time, all the more terrifying.
Think Jack the Ripper told mostly through Jack the Ripper’s eyes.
This new trailer, embedded above, perfectly captures all that. *Please note that discretion is heavily recommended before seeing it, since it is a red band release and contains graphic images that might offend.
“Maniac” is directed by Franck Khalfoun, and will be out in US theaters on June 21.
