It comes with support for international LTE bands

Elephone is a brand that's mostly known in China and rarely heard of in other regions, and that's because the company's smartphones target customers in the Mainland for the most part.

But that's about to change considering the recent move the Chinese company has done with its high-end Elephone P8000 phablet. While this is not the first time we hear about the smartphone, we now have more details on its specs and then some.

The Elephone P8000 is the sequel to the P7000 (obviously), but there are only a few differences between the two phablets. In fact, it all comes down to the chipset inside the Elephone 8000, which accommodates a MediaTek MT6753 processor.

The MediaTek MT6753 SoC (system on chip) is a downgrade from the Elephone P7000's MediaTek MT6752 octa-core chipset, but there's a slight advantage that the former has over the latter and that's the fact that it supports international LTE bands, Neowin notes.

This means that Elephone P8000 might as well be released globally, probably in the second half of the year. That will probably be a good idea since the phablet has quite a decent amount of nice features and it's priced very low.

If launched globally, it could be the cheapest high-end Android phone

First of all, the phablet sports a large 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. It also packs fingerprint scanner on the back and a huge 4,200 mAh battery.

On the inside, Elephone P8000 is equipped with a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, which is complemented by 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

There's no mention of microSD card slot, but we assume the smartphone must have one because 16GB might not be enough for a high-end device.

On the back, the P8000 features a 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording (Sony Exmor IMX214 sensor), while the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

Other highlights of Elephone's upcoming high-end phablet include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0, and GPS with A-GPS support. Also, the P8000 will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system onboard.

While there are no details on exactly when the smartphone will be available for purchase, sources close to the matter claim Elephone P8000 will sell for just $210 outright.
