There seems to be great demand for every bit of digital content and Electronic Arts is going to capitalize big on that concept.

It plans to offer game soundtracks as music downloads and, to accomplish that, it has just signed an agreement with Network Music Group. Dozens of albums with the music gamers are so familiar with from old and new titles published by Electronic Arts will now be available as paid music downloads.

By the end of this year, the gaming company will put to sale soundtracks from games like Medal of Honor, SSX and The Sims and the music will shift from the PC to MP3 players and even mobile phones. The distribution channels for these tracks will be AOL Music, iTunes, MSN, Rhapsody and Yahoo! Music.

According to EA, this project is all about establishing an even stronger bond between gamers and the titles they appreciate so much. This isn't just a desperate attempt to squeeze more money from gamers, but to create another branch of the already established community.

In the future, once a game is being released, EA will publish its soundtrack separately, but for special occasions the music in the game will be available even a few months before the game is launched... just to build the excitement.
