Electronic Arts is not yet ready to talk about Battlefield 3, the first person shooter that is apparently in development at DICE, and has stated that it would like to see the team get some more time to work on the video game before they are asked to do marketing and public relations campaigns for it. The statement comes after fans of the series hoped that more information might surface about the project after the publisher has announced that all retail copies of the upcoming Medal of Honor, another first person shooter created by EALA for the single player and DICE for the multiplayer, will contain a beta key for Battlefield 3.

It's not clear whether Electronic Arts is interested in making an official announcement linked to Battlefield 3, with the closest opportunity coming at the Gamescom event in Cologne during August. A statement from the company says, “Battlefield 3 is one of the most anticipated games in the world, and we want to give the dev team as much time and privacy to craft the game without disturbing them with marketing/PR. In the meantime, everyone is excited to launch MOH and we hope you’ll play that beta and enjoy that game this fall.”

It seems that the beta stage for Battlefield 3 will be coming about 12 months before the official launch date of the game and will allow fans to play the title in near finished state and to offer important feedback to the development team. It's not clear when Electronic Arts might be interested in putting out Battlefield 3. The company has publicly talked about the fact that it wants to take the first person shooter crown from rival Activision and the first two steps in that direction are Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Medal of Honor. Fans should expect Battlefield 3 to come around the holiday season of 2011.
