They have three versions that can collaborate in battle

The development team at ZeniMax Online and publisher Bethesda are revealing a new enemy that players will be able to face in The Elder Scrolls Online, the kwama that’s already a familiar sight for those fans who have played Morrowind.

The insectoid race has three versions: worker, warrior and scrib, each of them with a distinct set of abilities.

The kwama are important in Morrowind because their eggs are used by the Dark Elves as a food source, with the burrows known as mines.

The team explains the process that leads to the creation of a full Elder Scrolls Online creature on the official blog.

ZeniMax Online says, “When our animators began creating movement for the warrior and scrib, they had specific goals in mind. For instance, they wanted the warrior to appear twitchy and on edge, always alert for danger and ready to fight off interlopers.”

Crabs, ticks, mites and spiders are the creatures that served as the basis for the unique movement of the various kwama forms and for part of their behavior.

The three versions of the insect race are able to work together in order to create more powerful attacks and stop a player incursion into their territory.

The team says, “The worker can charge and knock a character back, and the warrior unearths a giant rock to launch at its foes. If the warrior lifts a rock out of an area the worker charges through, it creates a swarm of scrib!”

The ZeniMax title is set to launch on the PC but also on the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

I played The Elder Scrolls Online during E3 2013 and I was satisfied by its core story structure and the battle mechanics.
