Ignition Entertainment, a video game developer and publisher, has announced that its internally developed action adventure title El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron will be released on the Japanese market on April 28 of this year.

The game is being prepared for the Xbox 360 home console from Microsoft and for the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the company has also said that it plans to soon unveil dates for North America and for Europe.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is inspired by an alternate story based upon the mythology of the Bible, with the Book of Enoch, a part of the treasure trove of the Dead Sea scrolls, serving as the basis for the title.

The game will use the tried and tested genre of the action adventure and will aim to familiarize players with the story while also delivering engaging gameplay.

The development team includes veterans that have worked on such successful titles as Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, and Okami.

Sawaki Takeyasu, who is the game director working on El Shaddai, has stated, “With an immensely talented development team combined with the game’s highly inspired action game play and strikingly unique art style, I am proud to deliver this game to gamers all over the world. I hope you will enjoy the wonderful game experience of El Shaddai.”

Hassan Sadiq, the chairman of UTV Ingnition Entertainment, also chimed in “El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron has been muted by the media as one of the most anticipated titles of 2011 and UTV Ignition is looking forward to its success.”

El Shaddai is an interesting project because of the Biblical story on which it is based.

The game was initially showed off at the E3 trade show in 2010 and since then it has managed to pick up the Future Division award at the Japan Game Awards 2010.
