Not so long ago we told you about a certain Italian tablet-manufacturer, called Ekoore that has a 2-in-1 device dubbed Python on sale, which could run Windows 8, Android 4.2 and Ubuntu 13.04.

Putting aside questions as to whether the device is actually shipping in the real world, given recent events where Google and Microsoft have partnered up to put an end to dual-booting machines, we can tell you Ekoore has recently rolled out two new tablets.

The two new models are called Lucid 2 and Pike 2 and are the successors of the original Lucid and Pike, so they come sporting significant improvements.

The Lucid 2 is available in two versions, 7- and 9.7-inches, and they both feature a sleek body and are extremely thin.

Let’s start off with the smaller model. The 7-incher has an IPS panel with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and comes equipped with a quad-core CPU at 1.3GHz and a GPU ARM Mali 400 MP2, backed up by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

Moving on, the 7-incher also has Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, microUSB and HDMI out. There’s even a pretty capable 8MP main camera, and a decent 3000 mAh battery is keeping the tablet alive. The smaller Lucid 2 runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

As for the larger Lucid 2 brother, it has a 9.7-inch IPS screen with a remarkable 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution.

Power comes from a quad-core CPU at 1.8GHz, combined with a GPU Mali 400 with 4 cores and 2GB of RAM plus 16GB of internal memory. Interestingly, the main camera is only 5MP with this model.

On the other hand, the battery is pretty huge at 9500 mAh, so it should last users plenty hours of intense use. The OS is the same as with the smaller model.

Now, let’s move to the Pike series, which comes and in 7- and 8-inch flavors. These two models are the budget-friendly alternative to the Lucid 2 line-up. The 7-inch is available in Wi-Fi only and 3G versions.

The first one has a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz with a Mali 400 GPU MP2, combined with 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

The 3G model has the same resolution but mounted on an IPS panel, while the CPU inside is working at 1.3GHz and is fitted with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

The 8-inch model has an IPS screen with 1024 x 768 pixels and draws power from a quad-core 1.8GHz processor, backed-up by a four-core Mali 400 GPU. All three models have a microSD, microUSB while only the 8-inch Pike has HDMI out. There’s also a rear camera and frontal webcam on the model.

Anyway, the Lucid 2 line-up is priced €179 / $249 and €249 / $346 respectively, while the Pike 2 models start at €69.90 / $97 for the Wi-Fi 7-incher, while the 3G version is priced for $109.90 / $152. The 8-incher will ship for €149.90 / €209.
