Although it’s been quite a while since we last heard anything of ASUS' “Ultimate” S101, it clearly seems that this upcoming netbook isn’t all that shy of the camera. The portable system, which is thought to become part of the company’s high-end Eee PC lineup, has already been showcased by the ASUS CEO earlier this year but, now, it has went a bit further and has yet again surfaced in pretty pixels, so to speak.

The guys over at Cnet's Crave have made the best of their sources in the industry, and were thus able to upload a couple of new pictures of the upcoming ASUS Eee system. The S101 is shown in the same brown coloring as it was in the first pictures, which just goes to confirm that ASUS is planning to market the upcoming Eee-branded system as a perfect choice for all those professional users out there. The S101 is designed as a more mature Eee PC, which can deliver a decent level of performance in a small and lightweight form factor.

Unfortunately, aside from the three pictures, details on the system's technical specifications continue to be rather scarce. However, the general belief is that ASUS will equip the future Eee PC with an Atom processor combined with 2GB of RAM. It will sport a 10.2-inch LED backlit display, which will certainly improve the visual experience of users, as compared with all the other 10-inch netbooks on the market. In addition, the company will provide a choice of 32GB or of 64GB solid-state drives.

However, there’s not much to say on pricing or, at least, nothing official so far. Still, word on the street has it that, when the S101 comes out, it will sell for approximately $699 for the 32GB model, and $899 for the 64GB model. Given the price tag and the already available details, it's hard to maintain that this small-sized portable system is thought as a competitor to all those netbooks on the market.
