The first rumors about ASUS releasing a number of new Eee PC models surfaced last week and, since then, we also got to see them being confirmed. The company's CEO, Jerry Shen, officially confirmed that ASUSTek was prepared to launch a couple of new models, which would come as part of three Eee PC categories.

The company's current lineup will be integrated in the Smart Casual segment, but new additions will also be brought alongside it. Recent reports have it that photos of these new Smart Casual Eee PC models have already surfaced on certain websites, despite the fact that their their official launch is still far away. We already told you this past Friday about the Eee PC 701SD, which popped in a number of detailed pictures on a German website. Unfortunately, that was all the source could reveal, as it failed to provide us with the technical details of the upcoming product as well. But that is not the case of another new Eee PC model which has also been spotted on the Internet.

This time around, we're talking about an 8.9-inch model that will be part of the Eee PC 900-series. Branded as Eee PC 900A, this netbook will feature the same chassis design as its "regular" Celeron-equipped 900 model. However, unlike the basic Eee PC 900, the A version is going to be powered by a 1.6 Ghz-clocked Intel Atom CPU. It will provide 1GB of DDR2 memory, a 0.3 MP camera, an SD memory card slot, Ethernet and WiFi.

The upcoming netbook is expected to weigh about 990 grams and to be equipped with a maximum of 16GB of storage on an SSD. An 8GB version of it is already up for sale on a German website, from where you can get it for 299 Euros. If the listing is not a mistake on part of the retailer, we should probably expect some reviews of the new Eee PC as well, even before ASUS gets to officially launch it. So stay tuned.
