Fans of the original movie are still scratching their heads in wonder as to whether Gerard Butler's departure from the “Point Break” remake is a good or bad thing. But while this is still being debated, the producers of the project have already cast a new actor for the part and his names is Edgar Ramirez.

Variety reports that Ramirez is already in negotiations to play Bodhi, the crazy surfer who was played by Patrick Swayze in the original movie from the ‘90s. Production company Alcon has been looking for a suitable replacement ever since Butler departed from the project over scheduling conflicts with the sequel of the movie “Olympus Has Fallen.”

The announcement is not yet official but word on the street is that the producers are keen to sign Ramirez because they only have one month before shooting for the movie starts in June and is scheduled to take place in several places on the Globe.

The other actors involved in the action movie remake are Ray Winstone as Agent Pappas and Luke Bracey as Johnny Utah. The storyline of the new movie is said to follow roughly in the path of the old one: an FBI agent trying to infiltrate a ring of criminals, but instead of surfing, the action is going to be set in the world of extreme sports.
