Eddie Cibrian was fired from “CSI: Miami” as show tries to bring back focus on original cast

As if personal problems were not enough to make this actor’s life nearly a living hell, Eddie Cibrian has also lost his job on one of the most popular television series at the moment, “CSI: Miami.” Nothing official has yet been announced, but, from what Entertainment Weekly is reporting, Cibrian will not be reprising his part as Cardoza on the show. And good riddance, fans say.

Cibrian who, in recent weeks, has been making headlines for the developments in his personal life, has reportedly been removed from the cast of the police / investigative show in a bid to have the series focus again on the original cast. As noted above, confirmation on this one is still pending, but, if the report does check out, not many regulars of the show will be mourning Cibrian’s departure, from what they’re saying on dedicated forums.

“Another long-running CBS procedural is downsizing: Sources confirm that CSI: Miami has released Eddie Cibrian (Cardoza) from his contract. A CBS rep declined to comment, but a source close to the show confirms that Cibrian’s contract option has not been picked up,” Michael Ausiello of EW’s The Ausiello Files writes. Ausiello, as television shows aficionados know, is among the very few who can boast “informers” with most networks, which is why he’s able to bring the hottest scoop and reports even before they’re official.

“The actor joined Miami last season — in large part to fill the void left by original cast member Adam Rodriguez (Delko). But with Rodriguez returning full-time this fall, producers decided to put the focus back on the original, core team. The news comes just one day after CBS’ Criminal Minds announced the departure of series regular A.J. Cook,” Ausiello further reports. Other media outlets have also tried contacting Cibrian himself for a comment on the report, but he’s been expectedly unavailable.

As also noted above, ever since becoming an item with his “Northern Lights” co-star LeAnn Rimes and thus making two different marriages end up in divorce (both actors were married at the time), Cibrian has been getting more media for his personal life than for his work. Because of this and the fact that, just recently, the scandal has been reignited again, some can’t help wondering whether his firing doesn’t have something to do with the negative media he’s been getting on personal considerations.
