Hollywood legend Ed Asner was rushed to the hospital the other day, after he got sick during his one-man show in Indiana. While the exact condition of his ailment remains unknown, his son says he’s already feeling better.

TMZ reports that Asner started acting out of sorts during the play “FDR,” fumbling his lines and looking as if he was about to collapse.

The 991 calls made by people in the audience (embedded below) reveal that he was “sweating profusely.” Another caller says he just “got sick.”

“Ed Asner was rushed to a hospital near Gary, Indiana yesterday, after the 83-year-old actor suffered a medical emergency during a performance of his 1-man show. 15 minutes into his play ‘FDR’ – crew members escorted Asner off the stage after noticing the actor struggling with his lines,” TMZ reports.

Assaulted by calls from all sides, the star’s publicist says exhaustion is most likely to blame for the recent health scare.

His son Matt doesn’t address the issue of what might have made his father sick, but he stresses that he’s already on the mend, which should come as excellent news for fans.

“My dad is doing fine. He was rushed to the hospital yesterday for being disoriented on stage. He is resting now at an Indiana hospital and is doing well and very grumpy, which with him is always a good thing,” Matt says for TMZ.

“He is being assessed right now and what I can say is that it was not a stroke. That much we do know,” he adds.

Asner had been feeling worse for wear for some time but he never stopped to take better care of himself and / or rest.

“For now he is just fine,” Matt stresses, adding that Ed is still in hospital in Chicago.
