It’s developed for tablets, and other platforms if it meets its stretch goals

Mobile games developers do not opt for Kickstarter campaigns to finance their projects too often. Even less manage to gather enough money to successfully fund their games, but that largely depends on how innovative (or not) their projects tend to be.

DOT Studio mobile games developer, headquartered in San Diego, has a new Kickstarter project called Eco Spirits, which reminds me of Pokemon.

The project hopes to raise no less than $95.000 (€70.000) in order to bring Eco Spirits on Android and iOS platforms. Keep in mind though that the minimum amount asked on Kickstarter is needed for the release of the game on tablets.

Android and iOS users who own smartphones will not be able to play the game until developers release a specially tailored version of Eco Spirits.

Additional gaming platforms like smartphones (smaller screens), Windows Phone 8, Nintendo 3DS, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox One and PS4 will be supported if the game reaches specific stretch goals.

...or a dire wolf

The gameplay of the Eco Spirits is basic, but addictive. Players will have to battle, train and trade monsters through different modes with their friends. This is why it’s called social game after all.

Eco Spirits seems to have a background story as well, though not many details have been provided yet. Players will start their adventures “awakening in an unknown place without remembering anything.”

The game is split in zones, which players will have to explore in order to find out more about their characters and the monsters they find along the way.

Each monster will have various passive abilities that can be unlocked at certain levels. Apart from the passive abilities, developers have confirmed that they will add skills to each monster, which will make their attacks more specialized and unique to each and every one.

There will be a fair share of items and gear that can be equipped and/or sold for a certain price. The item can be obtained throughout quests.

Eco Spirits will also feature a multiplayer mode that will allow two players to connect on separate devices. Online play vs. various modes will be available as well.

The folks over at DOT Studio promise that Eco Spirits will be launched with more than 250 monsters to fight against and/or tame. More details and art work featuring some of the monsters in the game will be revealed via future Kickstarter updates.

Eco Spirits is expected to arrive on Android and iOS tablets sometime in fall 2015, but if the project meets the stretch goals for other gaming platforms, there’s a chance that the release will be pushed back a few months.
